Connecting Your Xbox to a Captive Portal Network
Your Xbox should automatically open the Microsoft Edge browser when it detects a captive portal. If it fails, you can launch it manually.
- Go to **Settings** > **General** > **Network settings** > **Set up wireless network**.
- Select the Wi-Fi network. If a login page is required, the Edge browser should launch.
- If the browser doesn't open, go to **My games & apps** > **Apps** and open **Microsoft Edge**.
- In Edge, navigate to `http://nossl.sh` to force the captive portal login page.
My Xbox says it's connected, but I can't get online.
This usually means you need to authenticate through a captive portal. Open the Microsoft Edge browser on your Xbox and navigate to a non-HTTPS site like http://nossl.sh to trigger the login screen.
Can I play online games on hotel Wi-Fi?
While you can connect your Xbox to hotel Wi-Fi, the connection quality may not be suitable for online gaming due to high latency or network restrictions (NAT type).
