Connecting Your Steam Deck via Desktop Mode
The easiest way to handle captive portals on the Steam Deck is by switching to Desktop Mode.
- Press the **STEAM** button.
- Go to **Power**.
- Select **Switch to Desktop**.
- In Desktop Mode, click the Wi-Fi icon in the bottom right of the taskbar and connect to the network.
- A browser window (usually Firefox) should open with the login page. If not, open a browser manually.
- In the browser, navigate to `http://nossl.sh` to force the captive portal to appear.
- Once logged in, you can return to **Gaming Mode**.
Can I log in to a captive portal from Gaming Mode?
While Gaming Mode has some browser functionality, it can be unreliable for complex login pages. Switching to Desktop Mode provides a full-featured browser and is the most reliable method.
